Sea Technology Services, via its U.S.A. representative Kim Dietrich, has been awarded an order from ECS Federal, Inc, for an enhanced model Sea Technology Services Hydro-Acoustic Calibration Control Unit, to be fitted aboard the newly built NOAA research ship, Reuben Lasker, recently launched by Marinette Marine Corporation.
A second Hydro-Acoustic Calibration Control Unit order has simultaneously been awarded to Sea Technology Services by Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center, Hawaii, to be installed aboard the Honolulu based research ship Oscar Elton Settee.
The Sea Technology Services Hydro-Acoustic Calibration Control Unit is a four axis electronic system to control four gunwale-mounted Cannon Downriggers to precision position a calibration sphere under the hull of a fisheries acoustic survey ship, to map and calibrate the beams of its multi-frequency and multi-beam echosounder transducer arrays.
The new upgraded version of the Sea Technology Services Hydro-Acoustic Calibration Control Unit incorporates:
- A fourth channel to enable precision along and athwart ship positioning during multi-beam echosounders transducer calibrations
- Higher output motor control driver circuitry to operate larger capacity Cannon Downriggers
- Intelligent positioning and auto sweep control features
- Remote, wireless joystick operating control
